A lake, a long jetty and the mountains behind – a summer day needs no more of a backdrop. Yachthotel Chiemsee does refined and still has that rustic, relaxed side that makes you want to kick off your shoes straight away. The design feels exactly like that: modern and elegant, but never stiff. Shades of blue and butter yellow are pure summer: blue like the lake on a cloudless day, butter yellow like sun on your skin. The colours turn up everywhere without pushing themselves forward – on the invitation that builds excitement weeks ahead, on the menu card and on the sparkling wine wall. And then it is mostly about one thing: fun. Sparkling wine is served right on the jetty, feet almost in the water, while saxophone and a singer bring the first goosebumps. At the letter wall, every guest finds a personal letter from the couple – by then someone needs a tissue. For coffee, a boat takes everyone to the small island next door, cake included. And the evening leaves plenty of time for a party nobody wants to be the first to leave.
