An avenue of old cypresses, a park with a water-lily fountain and a rose garden, and a view far across the plain of Verona: Villa dei Cipressi sits on the hill of Sona, between Lake Garda and Verona, and looks like something out of an Italian love story. Built at the end of the 19th century, with salons full of art, vineyards and olive trees all around – and the wine for the toast comes from the estate's own winery. It hardly gets more romantic. This much dolce vita goes with everything except restraint. The table is laid the way you know and love it from Italy: linen, ceramics, candles and generous flowers. Only the colours are from today – bold, cheerful and happily mixed. One brings the feeling of a summer evening in Italy, the other puts everyone in a good mood the moment they sit down. The ceremony takes place among the olive trees, in soft light and with the garden as a backdrop – this spot needs hardly any more decoration. Then it is on to the aperitivo in the park and to the long table, where even the third course is welcome to take a little longer. And when it gets dark outside, the party moves into the winter garden: glass all around, the garden right in front and a dance floor nobody leaves in a hurry.
